Transforming a simple glass jar into a spooky lantern is a fun and budget-friendly way to add Halloween charm to your decor.
- Gather Your Materials: Get an empty glass jar with a lid, sheer fabric such as white cheesecloth or netting, black felt, glue, and one string of (10) LED battery-powered dollar store white lights.
- Insert the Lights: Insert the LED string lights into the empty jar leaving the battery pack outside. Carefully screw on the lid over the thin lighting string. It will fit under the lid. You can substitute one or two battery-operated LED tea lights for the LED string but you will need to get into the jar to turn them on and off each time you use them. For safety's sake, please don't use flame tea lights around any fabrics.
- Wrap the Fabric: Drape the fabric around the jar, cutting and adjusting it to fit as shown in the photo. You can attach it near the lid using a rubber band, ribbon or glue. Glue the eyes and mouth to the cheesecloth. As an alternative, you can glue the eyes and mouth on the jar and arrange the sheer fabric inside the jar as shown below.
- Illuminate Your Ghostly Jar: Turn on the LED lights, and voila! You've created a charming ghost lantern that will add a spooky and whimsical touch to your Halloween decor.
These DIY ghost lanterns are a perfect addition to your Halloween decorations, and they're easy and inexpensive to make. Enjoy the eerie ambiance they bring to your home this Halloween season!
